John T. Jacobs, age 86, of Mount Ida, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. He was born on May 31, 1931, in Liberty, Texas the son of John Jacobs and Maude Beddingfield. On April 27, 1950, he was married to Alice Cravey, who forever has lovingly referred to John as "My Honey". He was preceded in death by his son, Jay Timothy Jacobs; his parents; three brothers; and five sisters. He attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glenwood. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War and retired after 30 years from Bonar Plastic Company in Tyler, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his garden. John was a good man who had a wonderful and caring heart, and above all loved and cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Alice Jacobs; his daughter-in-law, Donna Jacobs, both of Mount Ida; two grandsons and their spouses, Jason and Nikki Jacobs of Mount Ida and Daniel and Mindy Jacobs of Norman; seven great-grandchildren, Aerik Jacobs, Amanda Jacobs, Mason Jacobs, Braden Hill, Kellen Hill, Taylor Jacobs and Riley Jacobs; one great-great-granddaughter, Maya Jacobs; one sister and brother-in-law, Jo Alice and James Westbury of Lindale, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 9, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Kimball Palmer officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services. Interment will be in the Blish Cemetery. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
