John L. Shatzer, 83, of Conway, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2006. He was born August 11, 1923 in Little Rock to the late Maurice and Jewell Duncan Shatzer. Mr. Shatzer was retired from Arkansas Power and Light Company after 30 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Brumley Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Flora Gibbs Shatzer of Conway; a son, John Shatzer and wife, Kathy of Conway; a brother, Morris Shatzer of Memphis; a sister, Juanita Fortner of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Shatzer was preceded in death by two sons, Neil Shatzer and Carter Holder, Jr.; a daughter, Ethelena St. John; a brother, Charles Shatzer and wife, Helen; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
