John Olen Roberts, 81, of Alexander passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007. He entered the Army in 1944, trained at Camp Walters, Texas, served in South Pacific, was awarded the good conduct medal, two battle stars, purple heart, combat rifle badge and was wounded in Okinawa, June 7, 1945.
He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Patricia Jones; three sons, John Paul Roberts and wife, Donna, Mike Roberts and wife, Sherry and Chris Roberts; daughter, Margaret Dodd; sister, Dorothy Elder; eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Strickland.
