John Reyes, 55, of Little Rock, was a beacon of joy, laughter, and endless stories. Born and raised in El Paso, he graduated from JM Hanks High School before making his way west to San Diego, where he spent nearly three decades turning friends into family and strangers into friends. His heart finally led him to Little Rock, and more importantly, to his soulmate, Erica, whom he met while working at St. Vincent’s Hospital. They shared 5 ½ beautiful years as husband and wife, filled with laughter, love, and a collection of heartwarming memories.
John was a die-hard Longhorns and Cowboys fan, and his memorabilia collection was the stuff of legends—he owned no fewer than 50 baseball caps, all representing his undying loyalty. And when he wasn’t cheering on his teams, he was probably rummaging through his colossal movie collection. He could talk for hours about anything from classic Westerns to obscure indie flicks, never tiring of sharing his favorites with family and friends. Music? Oh, he loved it all, from toe-tapping country tunes to head-banging rock.
He never met a stranger, and his warmth turned everyone he met into a friend. John’s love extended beyond his immediate family, including his two stepdaughters, Brianna and Ally and his cherished fur babies, who were as much a part of his family as anyone else.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Erica Reyes; his mother, Martha Reyes; sister Mari Spencer and her husband Kenny; countless nieces and nephews, two uncles, an aunt, and more friends than we can count.
John, we miss your smile, your laughter, and your enormous heart. Thank you for the love, the laughs, and the unforgettable memories. We know you’re cheering the Cowboys and Longhorns from the best seat in the house.
Please wear your Texas Longhorn attire at John's visitation that is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Smith Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to follow at 5:30 PM. Family asks that all friends come prepared to write their favorite memory of John for their keepsake book. Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock on Wednesday, November 20 at 10:00 AM.
