John "Johnny" Moore, 78, of Ward, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009. He was a Little Rock Tech High graduate, member of Cocklebur Baptist Church in Ward and a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Johnny formerly owned and operated the Esso Service Station at 12th and Battery and the Gulf Station at 10th and Battery in Little Rock. He was an early pioneer of Benton Speed Bowl (now I-30 Speedway). He worked for Philips Lighting (Westinghouse) in Little Rock and Owensboro, Kentucky, moved in 1986 to Ward and retired in 1991. Johnny was also a cattle and hay farmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Baxter and Randy of Ward; granddaughter, Kim and Trey Walker of Weatherford, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kelsea, Kori, Paul Charles Walker; sister, Mary J. Brown of Little Rock; sisters-in-law, Betty Moore of Little Rock and Billie Moore of Conway; brother-in-law, Dave Hollis of Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Martha Ann Jackson Moore; eleven brothers and sisters, Foster, Raymond "Buddy", Virgle, Carroll, Jay Moore, Rebecca "Becky" and Bessie Moore, Ida Belle Little, Grace Garrett, Clara "Patty" Burrows, Margaret "May" Hollis.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
