John Marschewski

John Jacob Marschewski, Jr., 73, of Little Rock passed away Thursday, February 05, 2015. He was born January 1, 1942 in Helena, Arkansas to the late John Marschewski, Sr. and Nan Elaine Mabry Marschewski. He retired as a Major after 20 years in the 142nd Artillery Army National Guard. He worked for 40 years in the electric utility business, ending his career as President of Southwest Power Pool.
He joined the Catholic diocese staff in 2005 after a 12-month retirement. In this part-time position he provided spiritual and educational opportunities for 110 active and retired deacons.
John's passions were his family and his deacon family. John was loved by all who knew him. He thoroughly enjoyed the Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Rogers Marschewski; son, John Jacob Marschewski III (Nancy), of Effingham, Illinois; two daughters, Julie Ann Marschewski Austin and Kelly Elizabeth Marschewski Lasseigne (Wesley) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Hannah Rogers Austin, Brandon Jacob Marschewski, Tyler David Marschewski, Colin Patrick Marschewski, Peyton Elizabeth Lasseigne and Lauren Wesley Lasseigne.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 followed by a visitation at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deacon Koinonia Fund, Diocese of Little Rock, 2500 North Tyler St., Little Rock, AR 72207.
