John Robert Loyd, 82, of Sherwood passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012. He was born July 10, 1930 to Robert A. Loyd and Johnnie Mae McGlothlan. He was a United States Marine for 24 years, with two tours of duty in Vietnam, and one tour in Korea. He was decorated and awarded many honors.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Loyd Mixon and a brother, Don Charles Loyd. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Geal (Robert); three grandchildren, Angela Turney (Bruce), Robert Geal, Jr., Wendy Cunningham (Larry); four great-grandchildren, Emily Smith, Audrey Smith, Autumn Turney, Kingston Cunningham; nephews, Donn Mixon, Bob Mixon; niece, Paula Baker; and a host of cousins including Guy Ransom (Elizabeth) and great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Pulaski County Humane Society.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, 72114, 758-1170. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
