John W. Lambert

April 17, 1943 — March 27, 2022

John W. Lambert, age 78, of Point Cedar, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

He was born on April 17, 1943, to James and Martha Stroope Lambert.  On July 26, 1963, he was married to the love of his life, Brenda Looper Lambert.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Ray Lambert and Roger Lambert; and one grandson, Kaul Westerson Lambert.

John was a man of many talents, but first and foremost, he was a man of great belief and faith. He praised the Lord thru the good and the bad and amazingly never lost his faith no matter how dire the situation he was dealing with was.  He was a member of the Philippi Church for over 50 years, where he proudly served as the superintendent for over 30 years.

John’s love for working was immense, and to make sure his family had the best life possible he would begin his workday before daylight, not ending it until way after dark. He worked most of his life as a logger, owning his own business until he retired, at which time he decided to continue to haul gravel and always told his family it was just “for fun”.  He became known as “Sod Buster” by many and the name was definitely the best fit for John because if he wasn’t breaking ground for his wonderful gardens, he was breaking something that he would have to turn around and fix.

John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who above all, adored his wife and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who could talk their Papa into anything, and definitely could talk their way out of anything too.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Lambert of Point Cedar; his two children, Darrin Lambert of Point Cedar and Kim Davidson and her husband, Carey, of Amity; three grandchildren and their spouses, Toriah and Kaleb Woodall and Athan and Brittany Lambert, all of Point Cedar and Tessia and Justin Hamner of Amity; five great-grandchildren, Karson, Bow, Dixie, Timber and Sparrow; two sisters-in-law, Betty Lambert of Amity and Paggy Lambert of Glenwood; one brother-in-law, Jeff Looper and his wife, Kathy of Malvern; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, a host of wonderful friends; and his best fur friend, “Tar Baby”.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Van Glidewell officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Philippi Cemetery, in Point Cedar.

Pallbearers will be Athan Lambert, Justin Hamner, Kalob Woodall, Tommy Lambert, Chuck Lambert and Zach Davidson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Karson Woodall, Bow Woodall, Bob Garner, Andrew William and the nurses and staff of the Kindred Hospice of Hot Springs.
