John Mark Jensen

John Mark Jensen was born on July 30, 1956, in Laurel, Mississippi to Carl and Joyce Jensen. His family moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas when he was two years old. As a child, “John Mark” as he is better known, enjoyed baseball and hunting. He had many lifelong friends, some since kindergarten, including Rick Grisham, Jimmy Lovelady, Jim Harper, and Roger Clinton. He was a member of the XYZ Hunting Club since he was a teenager. John Mark had a long career at Chem-Fab and Triumph for thirty-seven years until he retired.

In October of 1979, he met the love of his life, Terri, and they were married for forty-two years. He is survived by his spouse; and two daughters, Amanda Turner (Aaron), and Alycia Miller (Jason). John Mark coached both his daughters in softball for many years and was a devoted husband and father. He adored all of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them whether it was watching one of their sporting events, playing trivia, teaching them about history, or taking them on road trips. His grandchildren: Caitlyn Powers, Caleb McInroe, Maci McInroe, Presley Capshaw, Palmer Capshaw, and Paitynn Capshaw were his pride and joy. He was also close to his brother Mike and sister-in-law Sharron. He always made sure his family knew how much he loved them.

He is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Joyce Jensen; and brother, Mike Jensen.

John Mark was a family man and never met a stranger. He was loyal and always had something to teach you. In December of 2023, he was diagnosed with pneumonia which led to a year long hospitalization and rehab stay. John Mark was a fighter and never gave up. With his wife always right beside him, he was doing well in recent months. The good Lord took him Home on April 21, 2025, at the age of sixty-eight. Mark 13:32 says, “No one knows when that day or time will be, not the angels in heaven, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.” John Mark was a man of faith and will spend eternity in Heaven where his body will be healed. Even though we weep on Earth, we feel comfort in knowing what a glorious reunion it must have been seeing his parents and brother again, walking, and feeling no pain. We will carry him in our hearts and remember all the good times we shared with him.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 25 at 10:00am at Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs. A service will follow at 11:00am. The family requests those attending to wear John Mark’s favorite color yellow or Razorback attire.
