John A. Hendrix Jr., 53, of Cabot, died Friday, February 11, 2011. John served his country through the Army and Army Reserves for seventeen years and through civil service for twenty-seven years. He was an avid basketball player who truly loved the game. John loved traveling and experiencing other cultures. He was a devoted husband and father. John was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hunter Chatman Adams; grandparents, Herbert and Luma Chatman; and a special cousin and friend, Curtis Dupriest. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Vicky Marshall Hendrix; one daughter, Victoria "Torey" Hendrix, of Cabot; five sisters, Virginia Brewer of Kensett, Eileen Hendrix and Kathy Adams both of Searcy, Johnetta Hart of West Point, and Lumie Harris of Bald Knob; his father-in-law, Harold Marshall with whom he shared a special relationship; numerous relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in 16th Section Cemetery, Austin.
