John Heard, Jr.

John William Heard, Jr., 73, of Little Rock, passed away March 11, 2019. He was born August 14, 1945 to the late John W. and Martha Jean (Trammell) Heard in Little Rock. John retired after over three decades of teaching at Sycamore Avenue Elementary School on Long Island, New York.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Heard.  He is survived by his sisters, Candy Ousnamer of Little Rock and Christy Creasy (Charlie Stacy) of Conway; niece Allison Ousnamer; nephew Kevin Creasy (Emily Hester); beloved great-nephew Callum Creasy whom John was so excited to babysit over these last six months — the two were best friends; extended family Leta Albritton, Kevin Hurley, Polly Lowery, Don and Cathy Gould, and their children, Maribeth and Jennifer; his cousins of Little Rock; and all the countless friends he made throughout his 73 years — he never met a stranger. John’s kindness and openness, his readiness to listen and always lend a hand ensure that he, through the impact he made on the lives of all he came into contact with, will continue on. John, with all his humor and his joy and his love, will be so greatly missed by us all.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19. 2019 at the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, officiated by The Reverend Dr. J. Russell Snapp with support and readings by his dear friend Herschel Cast.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock.
