John "Darrell" Gatlin, 63, of Traskwood, Arkansas passed away June 14, 2020. He was born August 24, 1956 in Benton, Arkansas to the late John Thomas Gatlin and Frances (Brazil) Frady.
Darrell loved the Lord and attended Traskwood Assembly of God until his health restricted him from being able to attend. Darrell read his Bible often and encouraged his grandchildren to memorize scriptures. Darrell was a real family man and adored his wife, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandbaby. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting for arrowheads, deer, turkey, squirrels, and coons, fishing, going to the river, trot lining, and frog gigging. He loved sitting on his back porch watching the turkeys on his land, that he affectionately referred to as his "Empire". Darrell was a hard worker and made sure his family had what they needed and worked extra to provide what they wanted. He was always willing to help others and was the true definition of a HERO.
Preceding Darrell in death are his parents; brother, Arnold Wayne Gatlin; uncles, Delmar Gatlin, George Gatlin, and Houston Gatlin; and grandparents Jim "Pa" and Minnie "Ma" Gatlin.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, who has been by his side for forty five years, Diana Gatlin of Traskwood, Arkansas; daughter, Twana Gatlin and Travis Nofzinger of Traskwood; step-son, Bill Oppelt of Oklahoma; grandchildren: Kyle Fox (Nicole Richmond), Ryan Fox, Danielle Oppelt, Billy "Bubba" Oppelt; great-grandson, Drake "Drakester" Fox; two sisters: Kay Bailey of Benton, Arkansas and Melba Van Zandt and husband Rick of Bryant, Arkansas; the most special and greatest aunt ever, Theda Gatlin of Traskwood; long-time friends and "partners in crime": Wesley Pennington, Davy Moore, Freddy Gatlin, Richard "Dick" Berryhill, Troy Berryhill, and Dan Doddridge; and a host of family members and friends, who were so dear to him, who love Darrell and will miss him always.
