John Flynn

John Flynn

John Carter Flynn, 22, of Austin, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2010. He was loved by many friends and family whom he deeply impacted.

John graduated Cabot High School with the class of 2006. He was an excellent all-around athlete and was all-state in football. After school he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He participated in Contingency Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2007 to April 2008 as a turret gunner where his responsibilities included spotting IEDs and threats. LCpl Flynn successfully completed over 250 combat missions where he responded to suspected or actual enemy activity. LCpl Flynn was personally recognized by the battalion commander for excellence in combat because he set the standard for other Marines to emulate.

He is survived by his daughter Kennedi Aleigha Flynn and her mother Tiffany Duhamel of Austin; his parents, Gary and Donna Flynn of Cabot; sister, Holly Flynn of Sherwood; brother, Ryan Flynn and wife Misti of Cabot; grandmother, Lou Henslee and husband Larry of Sherwood; nieces, Olivia Reaves and Payton Flynn; nephew, Cole Flynn; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Earlys Carter, and grandfather, Harold Flynn.

The family requests in lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Kennedi Flynn Scholarship Fund at any Arvest Bank branch or mail to 510 W. Main St., Cabot, AR 72023.

Funeral service will be at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
