John Emsminger

John Emsminger

John David Ensminger was born in McGehee Arkansas to the late John and Helen Margaret Ensminger on March 22, 1938. David passed away August 13, 2020.

David lived a life full of friendships, family, and adventure. He graduated High school in 1956 in McGehee, Arkansas and attended college at the University of Arkansas at Monticello; through his years at UAM he gained many lifelong friendships that endured to the end. David was a passionate math professor and basketball referee. His greatest adventure started April 10, 1969 with his marriage to predeceased Eloise M. Ensminger. They raised four children; Marty, Cindy, Fred, and Steve. They built several small businesses together as well as many other entrepreneurial pursuits; all with great success. David had many friends whom he enjoyed having a good laugh and hunt with. As the patriarch of his family, he cared for and provided well by living and instructing in responsibility, honesty, hard work and integrity. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the beautiful state of Arkansas and enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying his plane. His second greatest adventure started with his marriage to Sue Smith Ensminger July 11, 2016. He is survived by his wife Sue Smith Ensminger and her children Shelly Grimes and Tyler Griffin. His four children: Marty, Cindy, Fred, and Steve, and eight grandchildren: Fred, Amanda, Emily, Drew, Jennifer, Lindsey, Balin, and Jacob, and four great grandchildren: Amelia, Jacob, Evelyn and Kevin.

The memory of a good person is a blessing-Proverbs 10:7.

A visitation will be held at the Smith Little Rock Funeral Home on Knoedl Court (NW corner of I-630 and Barrow Rd) Monday, August 17th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Funeral service will be held at the Smith Little Rock Funeral Home Tuesday, August 18th at 4pm. Interment will take place at a later date.  Covid-19 guidelines will be observed. Memorial donations can be sent to Westrock Baptist Church 14601 Cantrell Rd. Little Rock AR, 72223.
