John Russell Denton age 69 of Sparkman passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 in Arkadelphia. He was born February 28, 1943 in Calexico, California the son of Lloyd and Waldine Peck Denton. John worked at Pittsburgh Demoines Steel for many years traveling the United States and foreign countries. He eventually settled in Sparkman and retired from Ray White Lumber in Sparkman. He was a member of Manning First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Denton; one son, Roy Neal Denton; three brothers, his twin brother, Jimmy Denton and Bud Denton all of Sparkman, and Jerry Whitmer of Hampton, Arkansas.
Survivors are one daughter, Monica McCollett and husband, John; two grandsons, Russell and John Michael; and one granddaughter, Shelby McCollett all of Arkadelphia; one sister, Lloydine Seale of Sparkman; one brother, Dale Denton of Sparkman; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 27th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Interment will follow at DeLamar Cemetery at Manning. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to DeLamar Cemetery Fund 2228 N. Hwy 7 Sparkman, Arkansas 71763.
