John C Mohnhaupt

John Charles Mohnhaupt, age 78, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, July 8th. Although John had lived in Arkansas for over 40 years, it didn't take long to figure out that he was not FROM here. He was a Yankee through and through--born and raised on Long Island in New York.

John is survived by his four children: John B. Mohnhaupt of Russellville, Jennifer Lusk of Little Rock, Anastasia 'Stacey' Williams of Little Rock, and Christopher Mohnhaupt of Hot Springs, and his siblings: Barbara Gallagher of Lindenhurst, New York, Elmer 'Jack' Mohnhaupt of Meeker Colorado, and Mary Buchanan of Craig, Colorado. John was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren (Jeremy Lusk of Little Rock and Rachel Mohnhaupt of Waco, Texas) and two great grandchildren (Teddy and Trudy Lusk).

John was known by so many names: Pops, Pop Pop, Uncle John, John, Big John and Dad. Whatever name he was answering to you could be sure that he was center stage in all of the shenanigans that were going on. He was involved in more practical jokes over the years than can be listed in this small space and had a passion for nature and photography

John was a gentle and funny man who loved his family, who cheated mercilessly at cards and board games, and who would never fail to stop and help out a stranger. He was the one you called in the middle of the night with a flat tire, the one who would drive across the country to celebrate successes big and small with you, and the one we all depended upon and loved.

Dad...John...Uncle John....Pops...Pop Pop--you will be missed but will never be forgotten. There will be glimpses of you in the traces of a million smiles, in every chuckle and belly laugh we hear, in every shared story about your lifetime of crazy antics... but most of all we will find you in the soft place inside our hearts that came from a lifetime of loving you.

His siblings, children and extended family are planning a memorial in Colorado to honor his life in July of 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Little Rock Zoo.
