Joel Paton Squires, 53 of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at his residence. He was born on February 21, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Joel was a beloved husband, father and paw paw, he was a carpenter, and an avid hunter with Duck Creek Hunting Club, and a graduate of Mills High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran, who loved fishing, gardening, and raising and running dogs.
He was preceded in death by his mother Vivian Squires, and a sister Janis Parker.
Survivors include his wife Amanda of Little Rock; three sons Chris (Nicole), Casey, and Colby (Sara); six grandchildren Shawn, Amaya, Christopher, Greg, Colleen, and Alexis; his father Calvin Squires; four brothers Mark (Linda), Burt (Chris), Calvin (Susan), and Tim Squires; a sister Jessica Ebert; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members, and a dog Sophie, who he loved very much.
The family wishes to thank Midtown Dialysis and Nephrology Association for the care they gave Joel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Ironton Baptist Church in Little Rock with Sidney Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in East End, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Glen Bingham, David Perry, Donald Cole, Rick Hickox, Jimbo Squires, and Guy Diemer.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Huson Funeral Home at 6400 Mabelvale Pike, Little Rock, Arkansas.
