Joe Allen Wickliffe, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020. He was born in Faulkner County, Arkansas on April 30, 1940 to Cecil and Mary Wickliffe.
He graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1958. Shortly after graduating, Joe began his career at Jeffrey Stone Company working his way up to President of Jeffrey Sand Company. After 55 years of a successful and rewarding career, Joe retired in 2013. Joe served on the Civil Service Commission for the city of North Little Rock, and was a board member on the National Sand, Stone and Gravel Association. He also served on numerous committees within the NSSGA. He was actively involved with the Arkansas Contractors Association, Ready Mix Association, and the Rock Political Action Committee (Rock PAC).
Joe was dedicated to the Lord and his family. One of his greatest joys was spending time with and supporting his grandchildren. He traveled often with his wife and friends, but his greatest trips were the family vacations. Joe was a longtime member of Little Rock’s First Baptist Church, and supported the ministry in different roles. Joe could often be found having coffee and visiting at Fisher’s, Homer’s, and was a member of the round table at Coachman’s Inn.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Barbara Bolton and Margaret Victory, and son-in-law, Rick Baney.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Lou; his children, Jon Wickliffe, Melissa Baney, Jeffrey (Beth) Wickliffe, and Natalie (Randy) Schuetzle; twelve grandchildren, Jaxon Wickliffe, Livia Wickliffe, Taylor (Cole) Breeding, Alexander Baney, Emily Baney, Hank Fuller, Jack Fuller, Hayden Wickliffe, Turner Wickliffe, Braxton Schuetzle, Brody Schuetzle, Reese Schuetzle, and one great-granddaughter, Blakely Breeding. He also leaves behind a beloved nephew, Ken (Karen) Bolton and a host of dearly loved extended family.
Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry at Conway High School or First Baptist Church of Little Rock.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway.
