Joe Simmons, age 80, of Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
He was born on May 25, 1940, in West Ridge, the son of JL Simmons and Alma Christian Simmons. On September 26, 2020, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Craft Simmons. He was also preceded in death by one son, Joe Simmons; his parents; one brother, Earnest Simmons and two sisters, Pamela Simmons and Anne Jo Parnell.
Joe was a member of The Church of Religious Science in Dallas, Texas. He was a retired Air Force veteran. After retiring from the military in 1977, he moved to Hot Springs in 1992. He then worked for National Park Hospital and later moved to Glenwood, where he met his future wife, Violet Craft.
He has left this world, but Joe will be remembered by those he left behind.
Joe is survived by one son, Denis Simmons of Elgin, Texas; two brothers, Jim Simmons of Batesville and Carroll Simmons of Hot Springs; two sisters, Bendia Ridgedill of North Little Rock and Rosa McCreary of Tupelo, Mississippi; two aunts, Betty Kemp pf North Little Rock and Jo Ann Smith of Arkadelphia; eight nephews; six nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2020, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Interment will be in Lowe Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time.
Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 100 persons at any one time in the funeral home chapel, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times when inside the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William Clark, Jeff Simmons, Glen Simmons, Joseph Clark, Jacob Simmons and Mitchell McCreary.
