Joe Rex Coleman

Joe Rex Coleman, age 80, of Nashville, formerly of Daisy, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016. He was born on October 12, 1936 in Greenville, Texas, the tenth and last child of Heber H. Coleman and Rosa Loving Myers Coleman. On January 26, 1962, he was married to Elizabeth Ann Glosup. He was a graduate of Royce City High School where he was named All-District in football in 1953 and 1954. In 1954, the team went on to be the undefeated champions of Region III. In 1989, he retired from Otis Elevator as an installer and foreman. Although unable to attend the past several years, he was a member of the Glenwood First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Coleman of Nashville; his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and JoLynn Coleman of Garfield, Arkansas; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Mike Graves of Nashville; his grandchildren, Rexanne Graves, Matthew Coleman, Josh Coleman and Andy Graves; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Bonnie O'Dell of Jacksonville, Texas; and two brothers, Billy Earl Coleman of Farmersville, Texas and Robert Coleman of Garland, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 13, 2016, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Kevin Sartin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 PM until service time, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Joy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Coleman, Milton Black, Matthew Coleman, Josh Coleman, Donnie Reid and Cody Funderburk. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Graves. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
