Joe D. Phillips, 72, of Mabelvale, passed away May 25, 2010. Born in Rosston, Arkansas to the late Aubra C. and Hazel E. Phillips, he was a U.S. Army veteran, retired from Downen Oil Company and a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Baker and husband, John of Castle Rock, Colorado; son, James "Harlan" Phillips and wife, Brenda K. of Mabelvale; sisters, Jeavena Taunton of Whitehall, Nancy Downen of Little Rock and Bobbie Webb of Danville; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and Mary F. Stone, mother of his children.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be Tuesday, June 1 at 12:00 noon at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan, officiated by Pastor Kenneth L. Click. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.).
