Joe Morris, 83, went to the arms of Jesus on May 31, 2022.
A life-long Baptist, he was a faithful witness for Jesus Christ. When he received a heart transplant in 1999, he gratefully told others that two people had died for him: His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the person who made his transplant possible.
Joe was a hard worker who was a tool and die maker by trade. Joe grew up in Ohio, raised his family in Ft Wayne, Indiana, and moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas in the 80s where he had a successful construction business. He finished his working years at Arkansas Department of Corrections, and retired to Willow Beach Lake in North Little Rock.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was the life of the party. He could make anything and had a talent for working with wood. Joe’s daughters remember him asking for help with a “five-minute project” that would invariably take hours and several trips to the hardware store.
He was born on February 24, 1939, in Findlay, Ohio, to Ferd and Irene Morris. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Eileen (Bowman) Morris. He is survived by daughters, Terri Morris, Joleen (Fred) Vetter, and Rhonda Morris; grandchildren Morgan and Ben Vetter and Katie Morris; and brother, Ted Morris. Good friend, Jim Strebe, was a faithful friend to the end.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
