The family of Joe McAfee thanks you for honoring his memory. Joe D. McAfee was born October 10, 1951, and he passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at the age of 71. In 1970, he married his high school sweetheart and “little darlin’” Deborah Harvell, and they shared 52 fulfilling years together.
In 1974 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Since then, he was privileged to spend time pioneering; working with Local Design and Construction; speaking at and assisting with conventions; and serving as an elder with the Searcy Congregation for many years. He was known for always being firm for what is right, and many sought him out for advice, knowing it would always be reliable and based on the scriptures.
He enjoyed travel, studying the stars, and spending time with Deborah, their dog Janie, and all his kids and grandchildren, who called him Pawpaw.
He had a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from UALR and worked as a freelance technical instructor. He was retired both from Timex after 29 years and from Pulaski Technical College after 15 years. Out of all these accomplishments, if you asked him what he was proudest of, he would say his kids and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Bobbie McAfee.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah McAfee; his five children, Jennifer Totten (Nathan), Amy Smith (Scott), Thomas McAfee (Mica Buono), Joanna Sain (Devin), and Kimberly Bell (Matthew); seven grandchildren, Sophia Totten Paddock (Ebon), Emma and Shepherd Smith, Ella and Lila McAfee, Lilly and Willoughby Sain, and Molly Bell; four brothers, Allan Dale McAfee of Ward, AR, Tommy Travis McAfee of Conway, AR, Timmy Clark McAfee of West Point, AR, and Teddy Doyle McAfee of West Point, AR; and two sisters, Vickie Gail Moon of Gans, OK, and Callie Lavern Hale of Garner, AR; and a “cloud of witnesses” and friends.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 230 Smokey Lane, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Cremation arrangements by Smith Westbrook Funeral Home. Please visit www.smithfamilycares.com/westbrook to sign the online registry.
