Joe Edward Gates, Sr., 70, of McRae, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Tuesday May 29, 2018. He was born to Stanley and Ruby (Hart) Gates in Austin, Indiana on November 21, 1947. He was a retired mechanic and loved working on cars.
He is survived by his wife, Katharin Gates of McRae; one son, Joe Edward Gates (Teresa) of McRae; two daughters, Kathy Jo Skinner (Ernest) of McRae, and Mary Ellen Gates of Heber Springs; seven grandchildren, Jared Gates, Cody Corbit, Alton Gates, Sidney Gates, Summer Skinner, Joe Gates I, and Dylan Skinner; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah Corbit and Aleda Corbit.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Weir Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. www.SmithFamilyCares.com
