Joe Henley Cornelius, Sr., passed away on May 31, 2023, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 74.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mildred Cornelius; brothers William Sam and Tommy Cornelius; and his in-laws, Fred and Bettye Davidson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda; two sons, Joe Henley Cornelius, Jr. (Carrie) and Dr. Robbie Scott Cornelius (Tara); a brother, Sammy Cornelius (Margaret); two sisters-in-law, Eve Cornelius and Jean Cornelius; a brother-in-law, Bob Davidson (Charlene); six grandchildren Zack Hicks, Bryan Bryant, Logan Bryant (Brooklynn), Annabelle Cornelius, Holland Cornelius, and Stoker Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Burklee Kate Bryant and Randal Asher Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was born on February 17, 1949, in Hope, Arkansas. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1967. Joe was a journeyman electrician out of Local IBEW 301 for 55 years. Upon retirement, Joe and Brenda moved to Brown Springs, Arkansas. Joe was of the Baptist faith.
The funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with Peggy Abbott officiating the ceremony. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.. Burial will be at Jones Cemetery in Brown Springs, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Greg Davidson, Brian Davidson, Zack Hicks, Bryan Bryant, Logan Bryan, and Stoker Cornelius. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones Cemetery, 340 Branch Creek Road, Donaldson, Arkansas 71941.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home, 517 Clay Street, Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923.
