Jodi Lyn Wheeler

Jodi Lyn Wheeler, 60, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023. Born February 17,1963 in North Platte, NE to Robert Schirmer & Linda (Hood) Schirmer.

She is survived by her daughter, (“the best thing that ever happened to her”) Ashley Clawson (Zach), granddaughters, Kailyn & Julia Clawson, brother, Bobby Johnson (Tina), nephew Kevin Johnson, niece Lydia Johnson, and Aunt Janis Hood.

Jodi was a devoted mother and loyal friend. She worked hard to provide for her daughter, and she did it without complaint. Jodi had a “don’t quit” mentality her entire life. The odds may have been stacked against her but the people around her would never know she was struggling. She kept a smile on her face and her head held high.

Her granddaughters brought her the most joy. She enjoyed playing dress up with them, watching movies, reading, and discussing books and hearing all about their days. You could see her face light up when you would talk about them or when she would see them coming.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of 2021 and although she was scared, she battled on. Jodi knew she was in for a fight, and she was ready. She worked almost every day throughout chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Jodi did that not only because it gave her some purpose but because that’s the type of person she was. She knew people were relying on her and she didn’t want to let them down.

Jodi was a fighter. She stayed strong to the end. We know she is now at peace and with her heavenly Father, no longer in an imperfect body, but whole and healed and perfect.
