Joanne Johnston

Joanne Johnston, 71, of Bauxite, Arkansas was called home March 3, 2021.  She was born February 6, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Donald and Marjorie (Haas) Pattengale.

Joanne worked most of her life as a hairdresser.  Joanne's passion for hairdressing brought joy and comfort for friends and strangers that came through her salon door.  Her salon became a gathering place where friends and strangers gathered to share stories, make new friendships, and leave feeling beautiful about themselves.  Her salon included stories from a family that she has served for three generations.  Joanne loved to cook and was famous for her homemade yeast rolls.  She loved to spend her days gardening, canning, and watching the beautiful birds that visited her back porch.  Family states that she was the “mischievous” grandma that always brought smiles to her grandkids faces.  Friends and family meant the world to Joanne and they loved her back with all their hearts.

Preceding Joanne in death are her parents; daughter, LeeAnne Jones; and stepson, Brian Johnston

She leaves behind her loving husband of twenty-six years, Kenneth Johnston; two sons: Michael Dublin and Tim Dublin and wife Jaime, and a step son Cody Johnston; step daughter, Allison Bass; eight grandchildren; and many family members and friends who will miss her always.

Family will welcome friends at a Visitation honoring Joanne on Wednesday, March 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas.
