Joanna Edwards

Joanna Jessie Edwards, 82, was born September 22, 1937 in Eagan, Tennesse.  The daughter of Earnest C. Jessie and Hilda Day Jessie, she departed this life on December 30, 2019.

She was raised in Coal Mountain, W. VA, and graduated from Bailyesville WVA High school in 1955.  She moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1960.  She was of Baptist faith.

Joanna was united in marriage to J.B. Edwards on September 21, 1962 in Las Vegas, NV. To this union one son was born J.B. Jr.  She raised cattle, sheep, and goats.  She and her husband moved to Willow Springs, MO in 1989.  She loved working with animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons J.B. Jr. and Joel; sisters Nancy Melton of TN, and Joyce Fletcher of GA; brothers Earl Jessie of TX amd Raymond Jessie of TN.

She is survived by her husband J.B. Edwards; sister Dorothy Thompson of GA; brothers Arvil Jessie of NC and Curtis Jessie of TN; children Maurine Edwards and James Edwards of CA; and two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2019, at Smith – Westbrook Chapel.  Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. before the service.  Interment will be at Pleasant Grove in Floyd.   Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.  www.smithfamilycares.com
