Marie Harrell, 78, of Little Rock, passed away December 15, 2017 at Hospice Home Care after a courageous four plus year battle with cancer. She was born September 1, 1939, in Forrest City, to the late Herman and Fannie Lee Lambert.
She grew up in Forrest City and graduated from Forrest City High School in 1957. She married Ray Harrell on June 7, 1959, and they lived in Forrest City and later moved to Little Rock. She was an avid sports fan. She lived a life of service to her family and church and will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren for the many holiday gatherings and weekly Sunday lunch after church at their home. Her greatest joys in life came from serving and being with her family, particularly her grandchildren who all knew her as Mimi.
She worked for Arkansas Power and Light in Forrest City and then devoted the next number of years to raising her children. She returned to work later in life at Maritz Market Research in Little Rock. She retired as a call center supervisor in 2001. She served in the Food Pantry ministry at Markham Street Baptist church where she was a member for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ray Harrell; three children, Christy Allen (Wayne) of Little Rock, Martin Harrell of Tulsa, Ok., and Scott Harrell (Lindy) of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Josh Allen, Sarah Haney (Austin), Sam Harrell, Lilly Harrell, Abby Powell (Tim), Alex Harrell (Kelsey), Mary Elise Harrell and Molly Grace Harrell; and one great-grandchild, Waylen Harrell. She is also survived by her brother; Herman Lambert (Sarah) of Greenville, S.C.
