It is with great sadness that on Saturday, January 8, 2022, Joan Donna Sulich, 72 years young, of Hot Springs, passed away.
She was born on October 21, 1949, in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama, the daughter of Oliver Johnson Sewell and Grace Genevieve Maffey Sewell. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Joan was a United States Navy Veteran and was honorably discharged August 30, 1985. She was an instrumental part in influencing the life of Christine Whitt, who she described as the daughter she never had. Although Joan never had any biological children of her own, she was a wonderful nanny and cared for many children during her lifetime. Her friends would describe her as independent, fun loving and always ready for the next adventure. Joan loved volunteering for the local theater and was always wanting more knowledge. She will always be remembered and forever missed.
She is survived by her nephews; Matthew Riley and Scott Riley; her niece, Kelsey Moss; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Memorial service will be 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Saturday, February 12, 2022, in the Southwood Estates Clubhouse, 128 Amy Drive, Hot Springs with United States Navy presenting military honors.
