Joan Petray Ballard age 85 of Arkadelphia died Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was born April 28, 1929 in Hot Spring County the daughter of Joseph and Annie Hines Petray. She was retired from Arkansas State Park at Degray Lake and a member of the Eastern Star. She had a passion for crocheting afghans that have been given as gifts all across the country. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Ballard Sr. and one son, William Neal Ballard, 4 brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Corn and her husband Mike of Arkadelphia, Charlotte Henry of Friendship, her son, Jesse (Jay) Ballard and wife Paula of Vancouver, Washington, and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Ballard of Friendship. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and sister-in-law Lorene Petray of Malvern.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, March 1st in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Bro. Hollis McDermott officiating. Burial will be in the Gilchrist Cemetery near Friendship. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
