Jo Backus
Jo Ann Burton Backus, born to Eugene and Josephine Burton of Conway on June 27, 1931, passed away on June 29, 2015 at the age of 84. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, husband, Joseph Backus, and youngest son, Gregory Backus.
Mrs. Backus graduated from Arkansas Baptist Hospital Diploma School of Nursing and worked as an RN for 45 years, 34 of those years in public health in Jefferson, Grant and Pulaski Counties.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Haase of Little Rock; son, Mark Backus of Benton; step-daughter, DeVri Martin of Fresno, California; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 11 at 3:00 p.m. Her ashes will be interred with her husband's at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
