Jimmy Don Thomas, 69, died Monday, May 7, 2018 at his home. He was born September 26, 1948 in Scott, Arkansas, where he lived for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nona Thomas, and one sister, Emma Strickland.
Jimmy Don was a brick mason by trade but loved to hunt and fish and spent many happy hours on the Old River. He was the founder and biggest talker of the McSwain's Morning Coffee Club.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kaye Thomas, of the home, two daughters, Kim Hughes and husband Randy (the son he always wanted), of North Little Rock, and Gina Grantham of Fort Worth, Texas. He was the proud Papoo of three special grandchildren, Trey and Jake Grantham of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tori Hughes of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret Henderson of North Little Rock, Connie (Chris) Jensen of Lonoke, Marilyn (Tommy) Duhan of Lonoke, Kevin Thomas of Mayflower and Michael (Tammy) Thomas of Benton, along with countless other family members and friends. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by all.
His nephews, Zach and Shane Thomas of Benton and Walter Thomas of Georgia, will serve as honorary pallbearers, along with special friend and brother-in-law, Hershel Dycus.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, with a graveside service to be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 10, at Keo Cemetery, Highway 165, with Bro. Otis Chapman officiating.
