Jimmy Joe “Shoot the Moon” Rye, 82, passed peacefully from this world as his daughters sang “Amazing Grace” on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Jimmy was born on August 25, 1936 in Beebe, AR to the late Clarence & Neta (Mitchell) Rye. Jimmy is survived by his wife of over 56 years Dottie (Linneman); his daughters Glenna Palmisano & husband Bill, Cindy Colón, Theresa Clark & husband Joey, and Diana Roventini & husband Dominic; his grandsons Eric Corley, Nicholas Palmisano & wife Kristina, Zachery Colón, Jeremy Colón and William Clark; his sisters Pat Wood and Mena Lou Henry; and many beloved nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Billy Rye and sister Gladys Harrell.
Jimmy owned Rye Office Products in Jacksonville, AR for over forty years with his twin brother Billy, retiring in 2016. He was a life-long member of Stoney Point United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer and Sunday School teacher for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards (especially Rook and Poker) & dominos, reading Thru the Bible by G. Vernon McGehee and watching AETN.
He is currently residing in Heaven in the place that the Lord prepared for him and most likely fishing.
Visitation will be at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, AR on Tuesday June 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Stoney Point Methodist Church Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to Stoney Point United Methodist Church.
