Jimmy D. Rakestraw, 74, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014. He served in the United States Navy, was a member of the Indian Head Lake Baptist Church and had a strong Christian faith.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Stella Rakestraw; Brother: David L. Rakestraw (Mireille), of Hawaii; Daughters: Lisa Brown of North Little Rock, Trica Frazier (Warren), of Little Rock; Son: David Rakestraw (Angela), of Cabot; Stepdaughters: Linda Kennedy (Roger) and Carol Allen (Charles) all of Jacksonville; many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Rakestraw; Infant Twin Brother; parents, Barney and Cora Lee Rakestraw; Sister, Mary Davenport and Brother, Barney Rakestraw. Jimmy enjoyed crafts, camping, cooking, telling jokes and making people laugh. He was a very kind man and he never met a stranger.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Little Rock Veterans Administration Hospital for their care.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Bowien officiating. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Online obituary at
