Jim Coulson, 78, of Brownsville, OR, passed away surrounded by the love of his family, in Kalispell, Montana. Born in Little Rock, AR he was the son of the late Edwin Charles Coulson and A. Jeanette Cooper Coulson and brother of Sharon Ann Ridgeway.
Jim spent much of his childhood in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, AR. He served in the Army National Guard and spent his career as an electrician, which allowed for many adventures, including work on the Alaska Pipeline.
He and his wife of 41 years, Madeline Coulson, began their life together in Little Rock, AR then moved to Lebanon, OR where together they raised their son, Matthew, and built a strong circle of lifelong friends and a beloved community in Brownsville, OR.
Jim enjoyed listening to music, southern rock especially, playing his guitar and creating stained glass. He loved fast cars, road trips, wild birds and Labradors. He was a loyal husband, father, brother and friend. Jim was a steady and loving presence in the life of his family and was deeply loved.
Jim is preceded in death by Madeline. He is survived by his son Matthew J. Coulson (KayLee), Kalispell, MT; step-children David Donahue (Victoria Torigian), Burbank, CA and Karen Donahue Robinson (Danny Robinson), Seattle, WA; his sister, Sharon (Bill) Ridgeway, Alexander, AR; nephews Eddie (Charlene) Ridgeway, Vilonia, AR, Mark Ridgeway of Alexander, AR and many beloved great nieces and nephews.
One of Jim’s favorite quotes was “Always be kind to others, always keep a good attitude and never give up”. In memory of him, you are invited to share kindness, find hope and remain steadfast in what matters most to you.
