Jimmy Dale Campbell, Age 84, of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in his home while surrounded by his loved ones on January 23, 2024. He was a wonderful husband, father, “Poppa,” a devout Christian, and a man of his word who lived his life with great integrity.
He was born November 5, 1939, to the late Dale and Hazel Campbell of Hickory Plains, Arkansas. He grew up on a dairy farm and was taught the importance of hard work and resilience at an early age. Growing up on that farm is also where his love for animals was first kindled. Jimmy Dale always kept a pasture full of cattle that he considered pets. He had a love for all animals, but especially for his ducks, giant catfish, and his beloved dog, Pepper.
After graduating from Beebe High school, Jimmy Dale went on to found Campbell Auto Sales in 1963. Shortly after, he met and fell in love with Rachel Davis. They married in 1967 and welcomed their only child, Dale Heath, in 1969. He became a proud “Poppa” in 2005 with the birth of his granddaughter, Dalee Shyne. In 2007, his grandson, Marley Ryder, was born. He loved “those babies” more than life itself, and they loved him the same.
In his later years, Jimmy Dale could often be found on a tractor on his farm or spending time with his family. You could bet he would be found at the donut shop on Saturday mornings visiting with his friends before heading to the local sale barn. He was known for his generosity and would often deliver fresh fruit or vegetables to those in the community simply because he enjoyed giving.
Jimmy Dale is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rachel; his son, Dale; his daughter-in-law, Darla; his grandchildren, Dalee and Marley; his brother, Ronny (Susan); his honorary son, Go Sakurai; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank Laveda Freeman for her love and support. They would also love to brag on the excellence in care that Jimmy Dale received from Lacey and Sarah with Gentiva Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to “Crissie’s House” located at 1410 E. Center Street, Beebe, AR 72012.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 pm at Union Valley Baptist Church, inside the Family Life Building, located at 932 US Hwy 64, Beebe, AR. Cremation arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. www.smithfamilycares.com
