Jimmie M. Smith, age 71, passed away May 7, 2013. Jimmie was born on December 10, 1941 in Texarkana to parents Bonnie McCoy and Carlotta Smith.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Smith of Mabelvale, Arkansas, two daughters; Kimberly Ann Watkins and husband Ken of Portland, Tennessee and Dawn Weber of Pennsylvania, son-in-law; Bill Weber of Pennsylvania, two sons; Bradley Dean Sherr of Florida and Benjamin P. Sherr, II and wife Michelle of Virginia, mother; Carlotta Smith of Lake Village, Arkansas, two sisters; Dot Lynn Hackett and husband John of Prescott, Arkansas and Bonnie Margaret Mazzanti and husband Richard of Lake Village, Arkansas, two brothers; Phillip Dean Smith of Longview, Texas and Bruce Allen Smith and wife Lisa of Lake Village, Arkansas, four grandchildren; Michael Raywood and wife Jamie, Andrew Parrish Sherr, Bryan Mitchell Sherr and Christian Joseph Sherr, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends, all who loved him dearly and will miss him always.
He was preceded in death by his father, his son; Bryan David Smith and his brother; Phillip Ray Smith.
Jimmie attended First Pentecostals of Benton. He retired from UALR where he was an IT specialist. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a Civil Engineer and a Microsoft Engineer with certifications in C++ and Cisco. He enjoyed, sky-diving, car racing and the Richard Petty Driving Experience which he had participated in several times, he was an avid of photographer and had a dark room where he developed his own film, and he loved boating, reading Sci-Fi and restoring antique automobiles particularly, AMC Eagles.
Visitation will be Friday, May 10th from 1:00- 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Home, Benton Chapel, located at 322 N. Market, Benton, AR 72015.
