Jim Robbins, age 73, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, peacefully in his sleep. He was born on June 27, 1945, in Mount Ida, the son of Doug and Muriel Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents. He graduated from Mount Ida High School and earned a Bachelors of Education degree from Arkansas Tech University. A retired teacher and coach of twenty-six years, Jim worked for two years in the Mount Ida school system, eight years at Glenwood, fourteen years at Kirby, and two years at Lake Hamilton. During the summer months, he spent fifteen years working for the Corps of Engineers as a park ranger, and was then employed by the Glenwood Country Club until his retirement. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, and spending time with his family. Coach Robbins was also a long time Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtics fan. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lynda Robbins; his son, Jason Robbins, both of Glenwood; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Sherry Robbins of Mount Ida; many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a host of wonderful friends. Visitation will be held Monday, August 13, 2018, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood. A private funeral service is planned.
