Jewell Lucritia Garrett, age 85 of Arkadelphia, formerly of Monroe Oklahoma, died Thursday September 18, 2008 at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. She was born December 24, 1922 in Tahama, Oklahoma, to John S. and Dollie Gregory Evans. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, Oklahoma.
She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Jacqueline Dale and Kenneth Alsup of Lampe, Missouri, a son and daughter in law, Charles and Cathy Garrett of Arkadelphia, a brother and sister in law, Charles G. and Naomi Evans of Monroe, Oklahoma, a sister in law, Hazel Evans of Monroe, Oklahoma, granddaughters, Rhonda Lynn Salas, Jennifer Lenore Jones, Jami Dale Howell, Jessica Laine Garrett, and Peytyn Harper Garrett, great-grandchildren, Britney Sounbandith, Ronnie Sounbandith, James Howell, Garrett Howell, Joseph Howell, Jenna Jones and Jacob Jones, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerry Morse, a sister, Opal Hicks, brothers, Carmet and Wilford Evans, and a brother-in-Law, Carl Hicks.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM Monday September 22, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, Oklahoma. Interment in Monroe Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
