Jewel "Lindy" Mercer Fisher, 78, of North Little Rock died Saturday, May 22, 2010. Jewel was born December 8, 1932 in Marshall, Texas to the late Lizzie Bell Woodley and X Brock Mercer. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gordon Mercer.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, John E. Fisher; sons, John Paul Fisher, Rob Fisher and wife, Janet of North Little Rock, Chuck Fisher, of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Vicki Halley and husband, John of Siloam Springs; sisters, Peggy Peal, of Waskom, Texas, Dot Lester, of Keithville, Louisiana, Daisy Campbell, of Marshall, Texas and Mary McMahon, of Shreveport, Louisiana; two brothers, Tex Mercer, of Shreveport, Louisiana and James Mercer and wife, Dooley, of Vidor, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church for 42 years where she was church secretary for 12 years and taught 3rd grade Sunday school for 38 years. She was also active in the Turban Ministry at Park Hill Baptist Church.
Lindy loved her family very much and enjoyed cooking birthday dinners for her family where everyone got their favorite cakes. She was also very talented and enjoyed numerous crafts, such as sewing, calligraphy and growing flowers "especially roses".

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Park Hill Baptist Church with Dr. S. Cary Heard and Dr. Ken Shaddox officiating. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
