Jessie Horton Jr.

Mr., Jessie Horton, Jr., 72, of Little Rock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 28, 2021.  He was born November 14, 1948 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Jessie Horton, Sr. and Eunice Holloway.  Mr. Horton was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War.  In addition to his time served in the armed forces, he was the past owner of Captain Jessie's Seafood in Detroit, Michigan and was retired from the United States Postal Service and many years of dedicated service.  He was an accomplished pilot who enjoyed flying his airplane, bowling, whale watching, and was an excellent cook.  Among all his accomplishments, Mr. Horton was most proud of his family.  He will always be remembered as a hard working and dedicated man.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Manual Iverson and Bessie Magby.

Let to mourn his passing are his wife of thirty-three years, Ruth Watson Horton; children, LaTanya (Bryant) Woods of Memphis, Jessie Horton III of North Little Rock, Donna Watson of Little Rock and Minthone Washington of Little Rock; grandchildren, Tony Frederick, Kierre Horton, Breon Woods, Natahli Horton, Jessie Horton IIII, Isaiah Horton, Rachel Horton, Samantha Watson, Taylor Washington and Lexus Simonson.  Other survivors include great-grandchildren, Kirstin Jones, Trednon Oliver and Caled Scott; siblings, Willis (Mary) Iverson of Stuttgart, Alfred, Columbus and Kim Grigsby, all of southern California, Ethel (Butch) Grigsby of Michigan, along with a host of extended family and dearly loved friends.

Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home. Interment will follow with military honors at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, thirty minutes prior to the service , at the funeral home.
