DIETZ, Jesse Reid ("Reid"), died peacefully on August 2, 2013, in Little Rock, AR, at the age of 84. The son of Ernest C.W. Dietz and Edna Reid Dietz, he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 3, 1928. He grew up in Bronxville, New York; graduated from Mercersburg Academy in 1946 and from Yale University in 1950, where he majored in Systems Engineering.
Following graduation from Yale, Reid served his country as a naval officer during the Korean War, including a tour of duty on the warship USS Everett in the South China Sea. Reid specialized in computer and telecommunications sales during his professional career, including postings at IBM, GTE, and MCI. He retired as an accounts manager in Stamford, Connecticut.
Reid lived life to the fullest, and he greatly enjoyed bird hunting and playing tennis. He also enjoyed devising his investment strategies and playing bridge. Reid was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy, his three children, Jessica, Peter and Adam, his two grandchildren, Sophia and Anna, his son-in-law, Nicholas Insua, and his step-children, Stanley Wood and Laura Brissey. We will miss him greatly.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6th at St. James United Methodist Church with Reverend Siegfried Johnson officiating. A Reception will immediately follow the service at the church.
