Jerry Wheetley, 66, of Ward, Arkansas passed away in his home on Monday January 25, 2016. He was born July 15, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Neoma and surviving Gerald Wheetley. Jerry was a Superintendent for Baldwin & Shell Construction Company for 20 years where he supervised over 100 projects. It was in the last 4 years he found his true calling when he was picked to lead the restoration project of Arkansas 101 year old, State Capitol. For his distinguished accomplishments, service, and good deeds, Secretary of State, Mark Martin presented him with the highly coveted, Capitol Citation.
He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Donald Strode and sister-in-law Mary Wheetley.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jean Wheetley; father Gerald Wheetley (Frances McFarlan); children, daughter, Cheri Lippard (Raymond); son, Chris Wheetley (Wendy); grandchildren, Cole Wheetley (Haley), Briana Wheetley (Felicia Quinn), Taylor Waddle, Colby Garvin, Chase Lippard, Alexis Lippard; and great grandchildren, Dailynn, Joshua, and Cameron. He is also survived by his siblings: Linda Strode, Larry Wheetley, Martha Wheeler and Victor Wheetley.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Sumner Cemetery, 13017 Sumner Cemetery Rd., Cabot, Arkansas. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.
