Jerry Thomas Baldwin, 82, passed away June 11, 2016. Born in Hot Springs on April 4, 1934 to James Roscoe Baldwin and Glessie Harris, he spent his childhood in Hot Springs with his beloved uncle, Elza Young, whom he fondly called "his brother." He moved to Long Beach, California where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Ruth Haley, and married her on June 24, 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1957.
Jerry was a civil servant in the Department of Defense at Vandenberg Air Force Base with the 1369th AVS from 1961-1991, serving as a supervisor. He was an award winning photographer, honored by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) for his expertise in photographic chemistry as well as portrait and wedding photography.
After retirement, he worked as a jailer for the city of Lompoc, California. He was a member of the Lompoc Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon.
In 2005, Jerry moved back to Hot Springs where he became a member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the choir. He was a lifelong sportsman, and loved fishing, hunting and RV traveling. Sitting on his balcony overlooking Lake Hamilton was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved God and family more than anything in his life.
