Jerry Windell Sutton, LTC Retired, born on October 8, 1934, in Prescott, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025. He dedicated his life to service, both in his military career and as a loving family man.
Jerry retired from the United States Army after more than twenty years of distinguished service. A skilled helicopter pilot, he bravely served three tours in Vietnam, where his courage and commitment to his country became evident. His last duty station was at the Pentagon, where he worked in the Inspector General Office. Throughout his military career, Jerry had the unique opportunity to travel the world, inspecting military bases, reinforcing his dedication to upholding the highest standards of service.
A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Benton, Jerry loved the Lord and cherished his faith deeply. His spiritual foundation was an integral part of his life, guiding him in all his endeavors.
Above all, Jerry loved his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Dean (Koen) Sutton of Benton, Arkansas; son David Sutton of Benton, Arkansas; daughter Elizabeth Clark of Evanston, Illinois; grandchildren Andrew Clark, Abbey Clark, Jessica Stovall and her husband Dan, and Danielle Hearn and her husband Todd; great-grandchildren Levi Hearn, Hadlie Hearn, Cason Hearn, Avery Stovall, and Brooke Stovall; and many family members and friends who love Jerry and will miss him dearly.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Edgar and Georgia Elizabeth (Cummings) Sutton, and his sister, Nelda Jo Sutton.
His legacy of love, commitment, and service will continue to resonate with all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on March 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas. The graveside service will take place at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched.
