Jerry Smith

Jerry Lee Smith, 65, of Ward, Arkansas, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009. He was a retired computer operator with Alltel. He was a former City Councilman at Ward, and was a recipient of the Ward Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award. He was very active in his community, serving as a volunteer fireman and also enjoyed restoring older automobiles, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Susie Smith; two daughters, Lisa Smith Foard and husband James of Alexander, Suzanne Smith Thomas and husband John of Ward; three grandchildren, Max Thomas, Emma Claire Thomas and Avery Foard; two brothers, Bill Smith of Senoia, Georgia and Frank Smith of Batesville; and one sister, Susan Ferguson of Richardson, Texas. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tessa Foard.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Tyronza Cemetery, Tyronza, Arkansas. www.westbrookfuneralhome.com
