Jerry was a graduate of Carthage High School in Carthage, Missouri. He graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, where he played on the golf team. After college, he was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army, working at the Pentagon. One of his assignments there was to reassign returning soldiers from the Vietnam War, and he took pride in his discreet resourcefulness in finding a way to send many soldiers back to their hometowns.

An accomplished golfer who had a lifelong love of the game, Jerry made many friends on the golf course. He played frequently at North Hills Country Club in Sherwood, as well as at notable courses around the world, often with his wife, Jean. He had an appreciation for good food and wine, culture and travel. He and Jean traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe, often in the company of cherished family and friends. He enjoyed trying new cuisines and collecting fine wines. Jerry was also an avid fan of Arkansas Razorbacks basketball, and he and Jean attended many games in Fayetteville.

Jerry had a long and successful career in commercial insurance as President of the Insurance Center in Little Rock, where he enjoyed his relationships with many loyal clients.
