Jerry Dean Rapier, Jr.

April 29, 1967 — April 14, 2025

Little Rock

Jerry Dean Rapier, Jr., 57, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of our Lord and Savior on April 14, 2025. Born on April 29, 1967, to Clemmie Ann Rapier and the late Jerry Dean Rapier, Sr., Jerry lived a life marked by unwavering service, steadfast love, and deep-rooted faith.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Tammy Renea Rapier, who was his rock, partner, and best friend. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and selfless giving. He is survived by three sons: Joshua Allen Rapier (Jessica), with grandchildren Emily, Cora, Abigail, and JD (bo diddle); Joseph Don Rapier (Andrea), with granddaughters Reese and Ryan Voorhies; and Jon Rapier. Jerry was also a beloved "bonus" father to Brenda Presley and a cherished grandfather to bonus granddaughters Caydence, Cecelia, and Alexi Millikan, as well as Skylar Bailey.

He is survived by his mother, Clemmie Ann Rapier; his brother, Gregory Sheridan (Traci), and nephews Nicolas Sheridan and Michael Kozak. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dean Rapier, Sr.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of friendship and brotherhood, including his dearest friend and “partner in crime,” Police Chief Allen Spears. His extended family includes many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who were all touched by his kindness, humor, and compassion.

A true servant at heart, Jerry dedicated his life to the service of others. He wore many hats over the years, including Public Servant for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, where he retired after 25 years of loyal service. He served as an EMT with Hazen Ambulance Service, a Police Officer for the Alexander and Shannon Hills Police Departments, and a Reserve Officer with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office. Jerry was also a volunteer fireman for both Alexander and Shannon Hills, always ready to rush to someone’s aid.

He was a proud member of the Pleasant Hills Baptist Church in Sardis and most recently found a spiritual home at First Baptist Church in Bryant. He cherished his church families and served faithfully in many ministries, always walking in the love and light of Christ.

Jerry’s heart for service extended far beyond his professional and spiritual life. He was a proud and passionate Mason, dedicating himself to numerous Masonic orders and serving in many leadership roles. Some of his honors include:

  • Past Master – Alumina Lodge #574, Bryant, AR
  • Past Preceptor – Knights of Saint Andrew
  • Knight Commander of the Court of Honor – Arkansas Consistory #1, Little Rock, AR
  • Past High Priest – Pine Bluff York Rite, Chapter #7
  • Deputy Master – English Chapter #14
  • Commander – Damascus Commandery #8
  • Arkansas York Rite College #142
  • Order of High Priesthood
  • Harvey I. Mize Council #101, Knight Masons
  • Allied Masonic Degrees
  • Bendemeer Grotto
  • Rosicruciana
  • District Deputy Grand High Priest
  • Rainbow Dad & Demolay Dad

Through these roles, Jerry championed the values of brotherhood, truth, and charity. He mentored many within the fraternity and was known as a guiding light to those who walked beside him.

Above all else, Jerry was a Christian man with a servant’s heart. He loved fiercely, gave generously, and lived humbly. He was a gentle soul with a kind heart, always ready to help a neighbor, mentor a friend, or simply offer a smile that could ease any burden. Whether it was a grandchild climbing into his lap, a colleague leaning on his wisdom, or a stranger in need of a helping hand, Jerry met everyone with warmth, grace, and dignity.

His love for children, his fur babies, and his boundless dedication to community and faith are the pillars of a legacy that will live on in all who had the honor of knowing him.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held Friday, April 18, with visitation held from 6:00-7:00 PM, followed by funeral service, officiated by Pastor Phillip Miller, at 7:00 PM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home located at 322 N Market St, Benton, Arkansas.

Jerry’s life was a testament to love, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. Though we grieve his absence, we rejoice in knowing he is now resting in eternal peace, wrapped in the embrace of his Heavenly Father.
