Jerry Moskwiak
Jerry Andrew Moskwiak, of Little Rock, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2019. He was born to the late Paul and Fannie (Tomashevsky) Moskwiak on June 20, 1934 in New York City. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1953 and served as a Corporal in the Military Police at a guided missile base in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. After an honorable discharge in 1955, he moved to Dearborn, Michigan. He worked for the City of Dearborn and BF Goodrich before he began a career in the insurance business in 1963. He worked for Prudential Financial Services for 30 years, retiring as a manager in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Orr Moskwiak; his children, sons Michael of Milford, Michigan and Mark (Mary) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and daughter, Michele (Larry) Lake of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and step-daughter, Alexandria (Chris) Franz of St. Claire Shores, Michigan. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Kristen Lake of Ann Arbor, Jordan Moskwiak of Boston, Massachusetts, Morgan and Samantha Moskwiak of Waterford, Michigan; two step-granddaughters, Emma and Addison Franz of St. Claire Shores; sisters-in-law, Cecelia Wilhite of Tempe, Arizona and Susan Brown of Richardson, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
Jerry was an avid golfer, and after a few months of retirement from Prudential, he went to work for a golf and ski shop in Ann Arbor. Three years later he started work at one of Golf Digest's 100 best golf shops, Miles of Golf, where he stayed until his second retirement in 2014. He shared his love of golf with his wife, whom he taught to play the game. They loved to travel to play golf and spent vacations in East Tennessee, Hawaii and South Carolina. In 2005, they purchased an equity membership at the Harbour Town Yacht Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and in 2009 renewed their vows in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary at the Club. After his wife's retirement from the University of Michigan in 2014, they moved to Little Rock, her hometown, to start their retirement together.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock. A reception will follow the service. Contributions may be made in Jerry's memory to the United States Marine Corps Heritage Foundation (https://www.marineheritage.org/), the American Cancer Society, or to the Samaritan Fund at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
